ELKRIDGE, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — A Howard County man has been charged in the 1991 death of his missing wife after a body was found in concrete beneath a shed at their home.
Two decades ago, Robert Jarrett told authorities that his wife, Christine, walked away from their Elkridge home after an argument. Police say investigators suspected foul play, but didn’t have enough evidence.
Police say they received new information Wednesday and got permission from Jarrett’s current wife, from whom he is separated, to search the property. Detectives found the remains of a woman police believe to be Christine Jarrett buried in concrete under a shed. Personal effects located with the body suggest that it is likely her, though the remains will be sent to the medical examiner to confirm the identity and determine the cause of death, reports ExploreHoward.com.
Jarrett, now 57, is charged with first- and second-degree murder and is being held without bond.
