Greg Cosell, senior producer at NFL Films, told the Junkies on Tuesday that he believes running back Trent Richardson is the best player in the draft.
Known for his expertise in studying players, Cosell said “I think he’s the best running back to come into this league since Adrian Peterson.”
Cosell believes a team like Cleveland can’t afford to wait til the 2nd or 3rd round to get a back. “Let’s say you are the Cleveland Browns, and your going to go with Colt McCoy as your quarterback, which appears to be the case unless they draft Ryan Tannehill…don’t you have to run run the ball to sustain offense?”
Robert Griffin III’s bust potential was also brought up to Cosell, but he quickly shot that down, saying “That’s hard for me to answer because I’m on Griffin as a quarterback. I don’t see him with bust potential.” In fact, Cosell even said he thinks the Redskins would take Griffin over Andrew Luck if they had the first pick in the draft.
