Ex-Church Deacon Sentenced For Sexually Assaulting Prostitute At Gunpoint
WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — A church deacon has been sentenced to eight years in prison for pulling a gun on a prostitute before sexually assaulting her.
Authorities say 27-year-old Colin L. Hatch of Capitol Heights, Md. picked up the 23-year-old prostitute in Northwest DC and initially agreed to pay for sex on Nov. 17, 2007. However, after driving to a nearby parking lot, the former deacon put a .45-caliber handgun to her head and demanded she perform sexual acts on him for free.
The prostitute complied with Hatch’s demands and was let out of the car after the acts were performed.
A short time later, she spotted the deacon’s car and reported the incident to police.
Hatch was found guilty of first-degree sexual assault and other charges in 2008, but sentencing was delayed after he appealed a portion of the verdict.
Hatch was applying to become a Baltimore Police Officer at the time he was arrested.
