McLEAN, Va. (CBSDC) — An 81-year-old woman is dead following a car crash near Tysons Corner on Thursday.

Fairfax County Police responded to a report of a crash in the 8200 block of Greensboro Drive shortly before 11 a.m.

Authorities say an 89-year-old man lost control of the 2008 Toyota Scion he was driving. The car accelerated as it entered a parking garage and traveled down a narrow ramp. It continued until it struck a concrete support pole an unoccupied vehicle head-on.

Both the driver and female passenger were taken to a local hospital.

The passenger, identified as Sumiko Hagan of the 7400 block of Northrop Road in McLean, died at the hospital.

Police ask anyone with information about the fatal collision to come forward.
