WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — Howard University has reinstated all student athletes suspended last Friday for alleged NCAA infractions surrounding textbook vouchers.
“As a result of this decision, all spring sports teams will compete as scheduled for the remainder of the season,” said Kerry-Ann Hamilton, spokesperson for the university.
The student athletes were allegedly able to spend money earmarked for textbooks on whatever they wanted. One athlete claimed the school demanded all money spent on items other than the books be repaid to the school.
It was initially reported Howard suspended all athletes and teams because of the infraction.
The suspensions were self-imposed as part of an internal investigation of possible NCAA rules-violations.
