WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins new uniforms bear a striking resemblance to their old uniforms — American Indian head logo and all.
Nike unveiled its new line of NFL uniforms on Tuesday to much anticipation and hype.
Unlike the Seattle Seahawks, who had a dramatic overhaul in their design, the Nike opted to leave the Redskins uniforms largely unchanged.
The upgrades to the uniforms were more in the technology and efficiency — an impact that will felt by the players, but not necessarily fans.
The Redskins took full advantage of the technological advances offered in Nike Elite 51 Uniform including Flywire technology, which reduces weight and has a tighter fit over the pads. Designers used a four-way stretch fabrication to streamline the shrink-wrap fit of the uniform.
According to Nike, the new uniform creates a system where the the entire uniform, pads and all, work in concert with each other.
The Nike Elite 51 design also offers players increasing sleeve articulation for better range of motion.
There had been some scuttle the somewhat controversial logo would be replaced in favor of an arrow which many feel is more politically correct.
