WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say a pedestrian has been struck and killed by a garbage truck in northwest Washington.

Police say the incident occurred at 14th Street and Columbia Road in the Columbia Heights neighborhood about 2 p.m. Monday.

Authorities say the victim was a man. He has not been identified, pending notification of his family.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
