WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins will be getting a speedy quarterback if they draft Robert Griffin III, but don’t expect Pierre Garçon to concede the Heisman Trophy winner is the faster of the two.
Indeed, a controversy and rivalry, albeit of the friendly variety, are brewing before either has played a down for the Redskins.
106.7 The Fan’s Holden Kushner and Danny Rouhier tried to stir the pot during Garçon’s appearance on their show Tuesday and the free agent acquisition was happy to lend a hand.
Kushner pointed out Griffin ran a 4.3 40-yard dash that was slightly faster than Garçon’s 4.4.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had a quarterback that’s faster than me,” the receiver joked. “That’s yet to be determined.”
Not wanting to let this debate get out of hand, Garçon offered to put his money where his mouth was.
“I would not have a problem racing anybody,” he boasted.
Before kick returner Brandon Banks suffered a knee injury in 2010 he and Anthony Armstrong had a similar debate. That debate has gone unsettled. Perhaps a four-way race is in order?
