Maicon Santos and Nick DeLeon shined in prime time as D.C. United quadrupled their goal out put of three games in one night. United cruises to a 4-1 victory Friday night in front of 13,169 happy fans at RFK.
After a shaky start where FC Dallas had a couple of opportunities to open the scoring, United gained control of the flow of the game and began a steady attack toward Hartman’s goal. In the 28th minute United cashed in on a long distance rocket shot from Maicon Santos that was perfectly drilled over Hartman right in to the back of the net. United had its first lead of the 2012 season and it seemed like they were poised to take control early as they continued on their attack but a mistake in the back by Dudar in the 41st minute led to a one on one opportunity which the Panamanian Striker Blas Perez took full advantage of and tucked it past United keeper Willis.
That is how the teams went in to halftime tied at 1. Both teams came out in the second half looking to take advantage on some space given up by both defenses but it was United that took advantage in the 60th minute on a counter attack where the rookie Nick DeLeon was able to put a shot past Hartman giving United the lead. It only took six minutes for United to double their lead when DeLeon was able to feed a cross to a wide open Danny Cruz who easily touched it past Hartman. The blow out was official in the 73rd minute when there was a great counter attack generated by De Rosario and Santos which lead to an easy header for Santos to head past Hartman.
United now has four points in the 2012 MLS season and will host the Seattle Sounders next Saturday at RFK.
