TYSONS CORNER, Va. (AP) — A new ramp from westbound Interstate 66 to the southbound I-495 is about to open in northern Virginia.
But before that can happen, the Virginia Department of Transportation is planning significant lane closures at the major interchange near Tysons Corner.
Starting Friday at 9:30 p.m., crews will close three right lanes of southbound I-495 along with the old exit ramp from I-66 onto the Capital Beltway. The new ramp will open Saturday at 7 a.m.
The southbound Beltway will also be closed Friday night at Braddock Road.
The new ramp is part of a $1.4 billion project to add 14 miles of express toll lanes to the Beltway between Springfield and the Dulles Toll Road. The project is scheduled to be completed late this year.
