Riverdale Man Kidnapped While Returning From Church, Forced To Go To ATM
RIVERDALE, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — Prince George’s County police say they are searching for one of two suspects accused of kidnapping a man in Riverdale.
Police say two men approached the victim as he was walking up to his home in the 5200 block of 59th Avenue about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was returning from church. Authorities say they forced the man into his vehicle and drove him to an ATM on Kenilworth Avenue, where they forced him to withdraw money.
Authorities say they later spotted and followed the victim’s vehicle, which struck a parked car. Police say the suspects fled on foot in opposite directions, and that one of them fired a weapon at an officer. The officer was not hit.
Police say one suspect was apprehended a short distance away from the crash site.
The victim suffered cuts to his forehead during the crash according to WNEW’s Kevin Patrick who spoke with the victim’s wife.
