ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Arlington County voters are going to the polls to fill a vacant slot on their County Board.
The special election Tuesday fills the spot vacated by Democrat Barbara Favola, who won election last year to the state Senate.
The four current members of the board are all Democrats.
The Democratic candidate in Tuesday’s election is longtime school board member Libby Garvey. She is running against Republican Mark Kelly and Green Party candidate Audrey Clement, each of whom have drawn substantial numbers of votes in previous losing bids for a spot on the board.
Polls are open in Arlington from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
