Nats’ Bats Silent In 5-1 Loss To Astros

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) — Bud Norris and Lucas Harrell each pitched three hitless innings and Chris Johnson homered and the Houston Astros beat the Washington Nationals 5-1 on Friday.

Johnson’s third spring homer came off Tyler Clippard in the sixth inning.

Johnson had been competing with Jimmy Paredes for the third base job, but Paredes was optioned Friday morning to Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he will play second base.

Jordan Zimmermann pitched five innings for the Nationals. He gave up four runs and eight hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

Jayson Werth’s single in the seventh inning was the Nationals’ first hit. Jason Michaels homered for Washington, which only had three hits.
