NORFOLK, Va. (CBSDC/AP) — One of Old Dominion University’s star basketball players was arrested shortly before tipoff against Mercer for violating a court order.
Virginia Beach police arrested senior Kent Bazemore on Wednesday night in Norfolk at the Constant Convocation Center where the Monarchs were playing in a CIT quarterfinal game. He was booked into jail and later released.
Court records show Bazemore pleaded guilty in August to driving while intoxicated. He was placed on probation, fined and ordered to complete an alcohol safety program.
A warrant for Bazemore was issued in February for not completing the program.

Coach Blaine Taylor said in a statement Thursday he would have told Bazemore to complete his requirements if he had come to him. He says Bazemore has a bright future in basketball.
ODU lost to Mercer 79-73.
