ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Arlington County is celebrating an effort by local businesses to reduce energy use that drew widespread participation.
The county is hosting an awards ceremony Thursday for its “Green Games” competition, in which businesses and property managers sought to reduce energy use, water use, improve recycling and choose environmentally friendly methods of transportation.
More than 100 offices and building participated in the yearlong competition. That represents 15 million square feet of office space — about a third of all office space in the county.
