BALTIMORE (CBSDC/AP) — The Baltimore Ravens say wide receiver Anquan Boldin is heading to East Africa to raise awareness about drought and famine that are affecting 13 million people across the region.
The Ravens says Boldin will be traveling with former teammate Larry Fitzgerald, a wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals, last teammates together in the ’09-’10 season. The pair will travel to Ethiopia with the international relief organization Oxfam. They are scheduled to begin the four-day trip March 27.
The two plan to meet with villagers, Oxfam officials and partner organizations and Ethiopian athletes. They also plan to visit Oxfam programs including an irrigation project.
In November, the two released a 30-second public service announcement about the growing need for relief funds for the region.
