WASHINGTON (AP) — A panel created by District of Columbia Public Schools to help address the problem of bullying is scheduled to meet this week for the first time.

The Washington Examiner reports that the committee, comprised of 40 D.C. Public Schools principals, staff, superintendents and community experts, plans to meet on Wednesday to start identifying strengths and weaknesses in schools. The panel is also expected to come up with anti-bullying initiatives.

D.C. Public Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson says the panel well be important to help provide principals with clear guidance so they respond consistently to bullying.
