MINERAL, Va. (AP) — Residents of the Virginia town of Mineral will get to see country performer Alan Jackson play this spring in their town, which was the epicenter of an earthquake last August.
Mayor Pam Harlowe tells The Daily Progress that Jackson will play May 20 in the parking lot behind the library.
Mineral won the show in an online voting contest after the 5.8-magnitude quake damaged numerous schools and other buildings. The town received more than 31,000 votes in the competition sponsored by eventful.com. Kansas City was in second place and Minot, N.D., was third. Minot was hit hard by Souris River flooding last year.
