LINTHICUM, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — A BWI spokesman says no one was injured when a single-engine plane’s nose gear collapsed as it arrived at the airport.

Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport spokesman Jonathan Dean says the nose gear collapsed as it landed around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, but the two people aboard were not hurt.

Dean says the incident did not affect commercial operations at the airport because small planes don’t use the same runways that larger commercial aircraft do. He did not know where the plane was arriving from.

An Atlanta-bound commercial flight recently had to return to the airport after the smell of smoke filled the plane’s cabin shortly after takeoff.
