WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — Law enforcement authorities say 13 people have been arrested after being indicted as part of a network that distributed cocaine in the Washington area.
The 13 arrested Monday were among 27 defendants named in an indictment returned Thursday and partially unsealed on Monday.
The defendants are charged with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
Eleven raids throughout the area by several agencies netted a shotgun, a rifle, nine handguns, cocaine and marijuana, cash, and five vehicles.
D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier was joined by officials from the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office in announcing the arrests.
