Road Work In The District Could Affect Friday Commute

WASHINGTON (AP) — District of Columbia transportation officials are alerting motorists to some road work in northeast Washington that could affect their Friday commute.

Officials are temporarily closing southbound South Dakota Avenue, NE between Riggs Road and Kennedy Street for roughly 48 hours, starting Friday morning. A single northbound traffic lane will be kept open.

Crews are accelerating the preparation activities for the upcoming permanent closure of the Riggs Road ramp to South Dakota Avenue that is scheduled to occur next week.

Officials say signs will be in place to guide motorists through the area.
