Infant Dies At Unlicensed Daycare, Two Charged With Child Endangerment
BRISTOW, Va. (CBSDC) — Two women who worked at an unlicensed daycare center in Prince William County have charged with child endangerment after a 3-month-old girl died while in their custody.
Yolanda Larin, 50, and Mirna Mendez, 42, have each been charged with five counts of child endangerment according to Prince William County Police.
Their charges are not connected directly to the death of the child who has been identified as Teagan Sample.
A preliminary investigation did not reveal any signs of foul play and there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body.
Authorities were initially called to the residential daycare center, located in the 13200 block of Sapphire Ridge Place in Bristow, around 12:42 p.m. Thursday. Upon their arrival, police discovered a total of 23 children ranging in age from newborn to four years old. Five of the children, not including the deceased, were less than 12 months old.
Larin and Mendez were the only two adults present.
The daycare center has since been shut down.
