Grandparents Discovered Infant Body In Trunk Of Car; Autopsy Performed
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (CBSDC) — Authorities have identified the mother of a deceased infant found in the trunk of a car in Prince Frederick Thursday night.
Calvert County Sheriff Mike Evans said the car belonged to the child’s 32-year-old mother. The woman’s parents found the child as they were cleaning out the vehicle near their mobile home in the 5400 block of Hallowing Point Road.
The tiny body was badly decomposed when it was discovered and a medical examiner was unable to determine whether the child was born alive based on an autopsy performed Friday. It could take a number of weeks to make that determination.
Whether the child was stillborn will play a factor in determining what charges, if any will be filed in the case. The mother has not been charged at this point.
A neighbor told 9NewsNow the car had been parked in front of the home and had not moved for weeks prior to the discovery.
