UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (CBSDC) — A two-story single family home in Upper Marlboro sustained significant damage in a blaze Thursday afternoon, displacing a family of nine.
When Prince George’s County firefighters arrived at home in the 4000 block of Terrytown Court around 4 p.m. they found heavy fire coming from the lower level window and spurting out of the upper level and roof. Responders were able to extinguish the fire relatively quickly, but not before $100,000 worth of damage was done to the house.
The two adults and nine children who live in the home have found temporary shelter. The County Citizen Services Unit and the American Red Cross provided housing to the adults and five of the children. A family member who resides elsewhere will house the other four children.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
Officials say the fire appears to be accidental, but are continuing to investigate the incident.
