Two Subjects In Custody, Talking To Police Following Shooting In Aspen Hill
ASPEN HILL, Md. (CBSDC) — Montgomery County Police have taken a two people into custody in connection to a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon in Aspen Hill. Neither subject has been arrested.
Authorities were called to the 1200 block of Superior Street around 3:20 p.m. where they found a young adult male inside a single-family home dead from a gunshot wound.
County police spokesman Capt. Paul Starks told All-News 99.1 WNEW that there were three people in the home at the time of the shooting including the victim. One person stayed on scene while the other fled on foot.
After releasing a description of the second subject, police were able to make contact with him and subsequently take him to police headquarters to interview.
The subject who remained at the shooting scene was also transported to headquarters for questioning.
Police say neither person is considered a suspect and no charges have been filed.
Police do not believe the shooting was random.
“Investigators do believe the three subjects were acquainted with each other and this is not a stranger-based event,” said Capt. Starks.
A motive is still unclear.
Police are withholding the identities of the two subjects in custody. The identity of the victim will be announced once family members are notified.
The shooting stunned residents of the neighborhood who described it as a relatively quiet and safe community.
