Marine Corps Marathon Registration Sells Out In Less Than Three Hours

WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — Registration for the 37th Marine Corps Marathon, which has a race course that winds through Virginia and the nation’s capital, sold out in a less than three hours.

Registration for the marathon opened at 3 p.m. Wednesday on the race’s website. All 30,000 registration spots sold out in two hours, 41 minutes.

Last year, registration closed in 28 hours.

The 2012 race will take place Oct. 28.

In the 36th Marine Corps Marathon hosted in 2011, the men’s winner was Charles Ware with a time of 2 hours, 19 minutes and 16 seconds, and the female winner was Tezata Dengersa with a total time of 2 hours, 39 minutes and 19 seconds.
