WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — A fight over a dog defecating on a neighbor’s lawn leads to murder.
D.C. police say a man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of a southeast Washington man.
Police say 56-year-old Ellsworth Colbert was arrested Sunday morning in connection with the death of 37-year-old Robert Leroy Wright.
Authorities say Wright was found stabbed in the 3600 block of Highwood Dr. in southeast around 10:15 a.m. on Sunday and was later pronounced dead at local hospital.
According to WTVR-TV, the stabbing occurred because Wright’s dog defecated on Colbert’s lawn.
Colbert was arrested about an hour after authorities responded to the report of the stabbing.
This was not the first time Colbert has been in trouble with the law, WTVR reports. He has been charged with assault at least five times and was fired from his job in 1997 at the D.C. Department of Public Works for getting into a fight with his supervisor.
