FAIRFAX, Va. (CBSDC) — A decision on whether to tighten dance floor regulations in Fairfax County has been deferred to another day.
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors had planned to hold a hearing on the measure, which proposes to impose size restrictions on dance floors in restaurants unless a pricey permit is obtained, but decided to postpone following public outcry according to the Washington Post.
The application fee for the permit is more than $16,000. That fee would not include to the cost of the permit itself.
The proposed rules would limit the size of dance floors to either 150 square feet or one-eighth of the restaurant’s dining area.
Dance enthusiasts in Fairfax County call the measure overkill while other believe the rules would unfairly target minorities.
