Knuble Back In The Line Up As Caps Host Flyers In Pivotal Game

By Sky Kerstein

The Washington Capitals (32-27-5, 69 points) host the Philadelphia Flyers (35-21-7, 77 points) tonight in game three of a crucial five game homestand for the Caps.

The Caps are one point behind the Winnipeg Jets for eighth place and the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, but the Caps have two games in hand.  The Tampa Bay Lightning and Buffalo Sabres are both one point behind the Caps, but both have played one more game then the Caps.

Mike Knuble, who has been a healthy scratch in 7 of their last 11 games, is back in the line up tonight.  Michal Neuvirth (9-10-3, 2.92 GAA, .899 Save pct.) is starting his fifth game in a row for the Caps.

Braden Holtby (10-3-0, 2.04 GAA, .926 Save pct.) was recalled this morning due to Tomas Vokoun having a day-to-day injury and will back up Neuvirth tonight.  Holtby had 17 saves in Hershey’s 3-0 win over Binghamton last night and drove down following the game arriving in Arlington around 2:20am.

The Caps forward lines tonight look like: Ovechkin-Johansson-Brouwer, Chimera-Perreault-Semin, Hendricks-Laich-Knuble, Beagle-Halpern-Ward.  Roman Hamrlik, John Erskine & Keith Aucoin will be the healthy scratches tonight.
