National baseball writer for CBSsports.com, Jon Heyman, is not a huge fan of Washington’s decision to pay Ryan Zimmerman $100 million.

In his blog, Heyman compared the six-year to some of the worst in baseball, including Vernon Wells, Barry Zito, and fellow teammate Jayson Werth.

Heyman also quoted a competitive executive in the MLB.  “Seems like they have two $100 million contracts but no $100 million payers.” That also refers to Werth, who didn’t live up to his contract last year. (Though some might say the Nats have Stephen Strasburgh and Bryce Harper, who may be worth $100 million some day.)

Heyman did acknowledge the Nationals did complete their main priority this off-season which was re-upping Zimmerman, but feels they paid too much for a guy who has an injury history and they have a top third base prospect in the pipes with Anthony Rendon.

SO WE HAVE TO ASK. DID THE NATIONALS PAY TOO MUCH FOR ZIM?

Obviously, he doesn’t know a thing about Ryan Zimmerman and what he means to the Nats and to Washington, DC.
