HYATTSVILLE, Md. (CBSDC) — A 17-year-old football stand out at DeMatha High School has died.

Rico Webb, a 6-foot-7, 365-pound offensive lineman, experienced flu-like symptoms Saturday afternoon. Later that night he was taken to Howard County General Hospital complaining of chest pains where he passed away, 9News Now reports.

Alabama State recruited Webb to play in the fall.

Students at the catholic high school held a prayer service for their fallen classmate Monday morning.

Authorities will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of Webb’s death.
