WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — A D.C. police officer is recovering after falling through the floor of a house while pursuing a suspect in Northeast Thursday morning.
The suspect bailed out of a vehicle and ran into the house after the canine officer attempted to apprehend them for unauthorized use of a vehicle, WNEW has learned. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said it was unclear whether there was a vehicle pursuit prior to the foot pursuit.
The canine officer suffered non-life threatening injuries in the fall which occurred around 10 a.m. in the 400 block of 24th Street NE.
The suspect was taken into custody.
Authorities also located what appeared to be human remains at the scene. Homicide detectives were called to the location.
It is unclear whether the two incidents were related.
