BALTIMORE (AP) — A forum is being held on children’s dental health care to study the expansion of access in the past five years.
Rep. Elijah Cummings, Sen. Barbara Mikulski and Sen. Benjamin Cardin are scheduled to attend the hearing in Baltimore on Wednesday.
The forum, which is part of National Children’s Dental Health Month, will honor the memory of Deamonte Driver, a 12-year-old Prince George’s County boy who died when his mother was unable to find a dentist to remove his infected tooth.
The forum will include presentations by federal and state health care representatives. It also will include discussion by dental experts and a parent who had trouble obtaining access to dental care for her daughters with special needs.
