FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (CBSDC) — Some Northern Virginia residents will be able to track the progress of snow plows in their neighborhood with a simple click of a mouse.

People who live in Fairfax, Loudoun or Prince William counties can enter their street address and receive up-to-date information on the status of plowing in their neighborhood.

A color-coded map will show one of four possible plow statuses for their area: already plowed, in progress, not yet plowed or won’t be plowed by VDOT.

The site, novasnowplowing.virginia.gov, will only be active if the region receives two inches of snow or more.

VDOT, who maintains the website, cautions the maps does not indicate actual road conditions because icing and inclement weather can make a road hazardous even after it has been plowed.
