RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A Richmond man accused of wounding his 101-year-old grandmother during a shootout with his brother is going to prison.
Media outlets report that 36-year-old Kevin D. McCray pleaded no contest to malicious wounding and several weapons charges Thursday in Richmond Circuit Court.
Judge Margaret P. Spencer sentenced McCray to 48 years in prison and then suspended all but five years of the term.
Naomi Taggart was shot in the neck during the incident last July at the family’s home. She has since recovered.
She tells media outlets that she doesn’t know who shot her.
