WASHINGTON (AP) — Part of Washington’s Dupont Circle neighborhood is waking up to a Valentine’s Day surprise.
The Phillips Collection has partnered with the neighborhood knitting store Looped Yarn Works to create dozens of hand-knit hearts that will adorn trees and buildings. They will line about three blocks Tuesday morning between the museum and the store.
The Phillips Collection is also celebrating the opening of large-scale yarn-and-nail installations by artist Alyson Shotz. The exhibit includes three monumental drawings made of yarn and nails. It opens Thursday as part of a contemporary art series at the Phillips.
The hand-knit valentines will likely be on view in Dupont Circle throughout the week.
