Police Seek Help In Identifying Suspect From Dollar Store Armed Robbery

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (CBSDC) — Montgomery County Police detectives have released surveillance photos from a Jan. 29 attempted armed robbery of a Dollar Deal Plus store in the Flower Hill area of Gaithersburg that occurred around 10:30 a.m.

Authorities say the suspect entered the business as it was opening and browsed briefly before approaching the clerk at the register. He informed the cashier that he had a gun and told them to open the register. When told that wasn’t possible, the suspect robbed the clerk’s personal property and left the store.

The suspect assaulted the clerk after he was followed out of the store. The clerk suffered minor injuries in the assault, but was able to recover the stolen property.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 5-foot-9 to 6-feet tall, weighing approximately 130 to 140 pounds with long black hair, mustache and beard. He was last seen wearing a red plaid bandana, a gray sweatshirt, dark blue pajama style pants with small white designs and sunglasses.

A cash reward of up to $1,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of the persons responsible is being offered.
