NBC Washington’s Sports Anchor Dan Hellie joined “The Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan and talked about his tweet reporting Maryland Terrapins quarterback Danny O’Brien will transfer.

O’Brien tweeted later in the afternoon “Contrary to rumor, I am still a Terp.”

Hellie claimed he didn’t realize how much attention he would get after reporting that but he “Just knew he wasn’t going to play another game for the Terps.”

He also said that his source is someone he trusts and there were multiple people close to the team who confirmed it.

However, Hellie did mention that O’Brien could wait until after the Spring semester in College Park since he would have enough credits to graduate and would be eligible to transfer and not have to sit out a year.
