Theismann Weighs In On QB Situation And Peyton Manning

On Thursday, Former Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann sat down with Mike Wise and Holden Kushner on radio row in Indianapolis and shared his thoughts about the Redskins quarterback struggles, and even weighed in on Peyton Manning.

“We have not been able to find a quarterback in the city of Washington to be able to take over that football team” Theismann said. “Since I left 29 about years ago, I think there have been 29 different starters in the city…I believe this is the year they’ll find somebody that you hope will quarterback this team for the next five to seven years.

However, Theismann is dead set against the idea of bring in Peyton Manning. “It’s not a good idea, it’s not a bad idea, it’s a horrific idea. It would be one of the poorest things that we could do as a franchise. Are we gonna go find another guy for just a couple of years again? Haven’t we done this before? Haven’t we seen this act before? And by the way, if you get Peyton Manning, don’t you have a concern about protecting him? Don’t you have a concern about who he throws the football to?”

According to Theismanm, it’s a bad idea for Peyton to go anywhere. “Anywhere but Indianapolis for Peyton Manning is mistake.”

Yeah, yeah yeah Joe. Everyone has sucked since you left.
We can certainly put together a much better O line than PM had with the Colts if we don’t trade away all our picks. We can also easily get a great WR in FA. If we then use the 1st (we trade down) and two 2nd round picks we haven’t thrown away(not to mention next year’s 1st) on RG3 and draft a R Tackle, an ILB and a Guard we can pick up our QB with next years #1 and along with this year’s and next year’s FA we’ll be ready to go. In the mean time PM will be teaching the team to win. We could also go another way and use a lower 1st round to get our next QB to study under PM. Either way what we don’t need to do is trade away draft picks for anyone. Rebuilding is done best using the draft and we now have guys who know how to use the draft – so why not let them have another full set of picks and see what they can do?
