CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBSDC) — Opening statements are underway in the trial of George Huguely in the University of Virginia Lacrosse murder case and some gruesome details have emerged.
Nine News Now’s Bruce Leshan reports that Huguely sent an email to his ex-girlfriend Yeardly Love two days before her death saying “I should have killed you!”
Huguely’s lawyers will argue that the death was an accident, and he didn’t know he killed her when he left the room. Prosecutors said Love survived for two hours on her bed before she died, which was unknown to the public until today.
Prosecutors said Huguely, severely beat Love, causing her death. Along with damage to her brain stem, Love’s carotid artery shut down said prosecutors. An injury consistent with a hand on her throat.
