WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — A former District of Columbia mayoral candidate who was set to go to trial on a charge of driving without a valid license will have to return to court.

Sulaimon Brown’s trial on the traffic charge was supposed to be Monday in D.C. Superior Court, but it was rescheduled to March 7.

Brown was arrested in September. His Maryland driver’s license had been suspended over an unpaid parking ticket. But his attorney has claimed Brown was treated unfairly because his license was suspended on July 4, when motor vehicle departments in Maryland and the district were closed.

Prosecutors in the case are still reportedly seeking a guilty plea in the case. The plea would carry with it a fine of less than $100. However, Brown’s attorneys are reluctant to accept the deal and are steadfast their is no case against their client.

Brown has accused aides to Mayor Vincent Gray of paying him and promising him a job during last year’s campaign to disparage then-Mayor Adrian Fenty. Federal authorities are investigating those claims.

Hi Ivan,One of the effects of my past and duocatien was that I realized that if I really listen to someone I learn so much not only by the words they share but about the speaker too. My friends joke that I am psychic but the reality is that I just really listen to what people say. To just not pay attention to every word is kind of rude and sad because a person will miss out on so much. Hope all is awesome![]
