WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — Authorities say four people have been arrested in a carjacking attempt in Columbia Heights that involved a struggle and a chase.

D.C. police say the carjacking attempt occurred in the 1400 block of Park Road about 3 a.m. Sunday. Authorities say four people got out of a car, pulled a female driver from a Lexus and robbed her and then tried to take the vehicle.

Police say two other people in the Lexus fought off the assailants, who got into their car and fled the scene. The intended victims followed the suspects and then alerted a police officer, who stopped a vehicle in the 7000 block of 9th Street, east of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and near the Takoma area of the District, police said.

Police say they arrested four people in the car.
