WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — U.S. Park Police say they are conducting compliance checks in Freedom Plaza a day after clearing out Occupy DC protesters from McPherson Square.
Police say they are looking for bedding, clothing and cooking items. One man was arrested for allegedly threatening an officer.
Sgt. David Schlosser, a Park Police spokesman, says protesters are not being evicted, and Park Police want to respect their First Amendment rights. Regulations allow protesters to remain on-site at all hours with tents, but they are not allowed to camp.
The inspections come a day after 11 people were arrested in McPherson Square as Park Police cleared away tents.
Is there a cause or movement for which you would conduct similar protests as the Occupy movement? Leave your comments below.
