WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — Roadways around the landmark Howard Theatre in northwest Washington are getting a facelift.
The $29 million renovation is being done while the 100-year-old theater that launched the careers of such greats as Ella Fitzgerald and Marvin Gaye also undergoes a renovation.
The District Department of Transportation says T Street will be closed between 7th Street and Florida Avenue. Work will also occur on Wiltberger Street between T and S streets and in the alley between Florida Avenue and T Street.
The work is scheduled to occur on Monday through Saturday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The transportation department says it will post signs 72 hours before any sidewalks, roads or alley entrances will be closed.
