Ivan Newman Arrested In Lenny Harris Murder, More Arrests Expected

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (CBSDC) — A second suspect has been arrested by Prince George’s County Police in connection with the murder Alexandria community activist Lenny Harris.

Police charged 20-year-old Ivan Newman of Waldorf with first-degree murder, kidnapping and robbery. Authorities say he was identified as a suspect in the case on Wednesday and taken into custody Thursday morning.

Authorities would not comment on whether Newman and Harris knew each other.

Linwood Johnson was arrested earlier this week and charged with first-degree murder of Harris. Harris’ body was found in a well in Fort Washington last week after an anonymous tip from someone on a disposable cell phone.

Authorities say they expect to make additional arrests in the case. Police told WNEW they were seeking three or four additional suspects in the case earlier in the week.
