WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - Mother Nature was sure smiling down on the DC area today.
It felt more like April than Jan. 31 with temps hitting 65 degrees Tuesday afternoon. The temps for January average 37 degrees.
Dulles Airport hit 66 degrees Tuesday, setting a new record, according to Meteorologist Topper Shutt. The downtown record high of 71 degrees was set in 1916.
On January 31, 2011, the high temperature was a chilly 33 degrees, but that is a far cry from the record low of -2 degrees set in 1916.
WNEW’s Kimberly Suitters was in Arlington where people were jogging, picnicing in the park, and all around raving about the weather. Suitters talked to one woman who said she wanted to stay outside all day if she could.
