LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The Baltimore/Washington Parkway reopened hours after a two-car crash claimed a life.

One vehicle was overturned and another skidded off the road just before Route 202 in Cheverly around 2:15 p.m.

Accident reconstruction remained on the scene for some time leaving all lanes in the southbound direction closed for a substantial portion of the afternoon commute. A single left lane was opened before police reopened the entire parkway.

According to WUSA, the driver of one vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene.

The occupants of the other vehicle were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
