STERLING, Va. (CBSDC) — A 15-year-old Sterling teenager has been charged with sexual battery and attempted robbery in connection to a pair of incidents earlier this month.
Loudon County Sheriffs say the suspect, whose name cannot be revealed because of his name, attempted to rob a 32-year-old woman on Jan. 17 in the area of E. Furman Drive and Auburn Drive in Sterling.
The victim told authorities she was in her car around 7 p.m. when an unknown subject approached her and grabbed her through the open driver’s side door. She said the suspect attempted to take her money and groped her.
The victim’s screams apparently scared the suspect who fled the scene on foot.
The latest incident occurred on Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. when a witness reported seeing a female being assaulted in the 100 block of East Holly Ave. As the witness approached the victim, the suspect again fled on foot.
She was later able to identify the suspect who was located by investigators on Jan. 25.
Investigators say video surveillance from a restaurant nearby one of the incidents was a key to cracking the case.
