Shortly after it was reported Flip Saunders was fired as head coach of the Washington Wizards, power forward Andray Blatche joined the “Mike Wise Show with Holden Kushner” to discuss his reaction to Flip’s dismissal. Although Andray and Flip had problems in the past, Blatche still showed a lot of respect for his former coach.

“Even though me and him had tough times together as player and coach, I still look at him as a great coach.”

The Wizards are an NBA worst 2-15 so far this season, and in the clip below Andray admits Flip was put in a tough situation with the franchise in the middle of a rebuild.

With Saunders gone, assistant coach Randy Wittman will take over head coaching duties, and Blatche says the next coach of the Wizards can’t pull any punches.

“For our team, we need a coach that’s going to come in and be a tough coach on everybody. No matter which player it is and no matter what a player brings to the table, he’s gotta be tough on us and when somebody makes a mistake, he’s gotta correct it.”
