Pedestrian Killed By Van At Temple Hills School

TEMPLE HILLS, Md  (CBS-WNEW) A pedestrian was killed when struck and trapped under a van at Samuel Chase Elementary School in Temple Hills confirmed Prince George County Police.

Police say the van was likely backing up in the parking lot in the 5900 block of Fisher road , when it hit the woman on Monday. When EMTs arrived the woman had no pulse and crews had to lift the van off the woman with a bag-like device.

Dr. William Hite, superintendent of Prince George County Public Schools released the following statement.

“On behalf of the Prince George’s County Public Schools community, I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the family of the victim involved in this tragic incident at Samuel Chase Elementary School. We are working closely with the Prince George’s County Police Department to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.” 

Authorities are interviewing the driver, who they say is cooperating with them.
